After reading Theoretical Foundations, I know that the nature of research and theory is humility and openness.
We must keep the humility attitude to understand the previous outcomes and apply them better in the present and future practice and research. In fact, we have to always remain humility because there are still so many unknown events, just like people 50 years ago did not know that mobile phones could be so popular and could not imagine that mobile phones could become a learning tool one day in the future. Likewise, we do not know how people will learn in 50 years. Will there be new learning tools too? Considering that so many unknown areas are waiting for us to explore, we must maintain a humble attitude.
At the same time, I also have a basic concept regards to the psychology of learning, communications theory, human-computer interaction, instructional design and development, these four foundation areas of theoretical foundation. Meanwhile, I realize that there are many affairs to do now and in the future in order to explore new methods and explanations.
Hi, Xiaojiao,
Indeed, I agree with you very much. No matter when we should look at the previous results with humility. I know more about traditional Chinese studies. In the process of understanding, you will see a lot of criticisms of Chinese traditional culture. Even if it is true that there was a lot of class and gender discrimination in ancient China, we cannot deny the achievements of ancient China in philosophy and pedagogy.

Hi, Xiaojiao
I can not agree more that there are so many affairs that we need to discover and explore, in theories, methods, applications, and more. We have to keep an attitude that is eager to learn and open-minded all the time. Don't even talk about 50 years ago, when I think back 10, 20 years ago, there are too many changes in the world around us. The pandemic from last year, also speeds up online communication, such as remote working, education and studying, health care, etc. It's so exciting that we are living in such a wonderful and challenging world.
