Through reading articles of this week, I know professional ethics. AECT defined it as three sections: commitment to the individual, commitment to the society, and commitment to the profession. Its purpose is to guide the IT practice.
In fact, in the real world, it usually is difficult to make some decisions that do not exactly answer. This is, they are not black and white, rather grey and fuzzy (Smaldino, S. E., et al., 2018). In terms of the IT field, the AECT Code of Ethics helps us make these unclear decisions. In the blog of last week, I mentioned that Dr. Allison Rossett’s suggestions regarding practices. However, I find that it is difficult to give an exact solution for the problem of a case when I try to make practice using some theories and models that I have learned before. I think that I need some regulars to guide me except for theories and models. In addition, there is another problem, this is, I know the ADDIE model and Bloom’s taxonomy, but I rarely combine them to consider the problems in the case. This phenomenon is not uncommon, Just like Bradshaw Amy said that “Although students of IDT might have heard of Emmett Till and Rosa Parks, and they may be aware of the Little Rock Nine, they almost certainly do not hear about or get asked to think about these individuals and events in connection to Bloom’s taxonomy or Maslow’s hierarchy of needs” (Bradshaw, 2018). Thus, I think that there is a gap between theories and practices, and it needs some ethics to guide the practice.

Hi Xiaojiao,
I got your point about the gap between theory and practice, so that's why we need the ethics or related principles to bridge it. The real world is so complicated that we often can not directly find the exact solutions to deal with the problems. But there are always some guildlines and ethnics helping us use a more scientific and humanized mindset to consider for it.

Hi, Xiaojiao
The AECT definition of professional ethics clearly defines the key commitments. It focuses on individuals, society, and the profession. It is also a guide to IT practice. As you mentioned in the post, it is sometimes hard to give a clear right or wrong answer regarding a question. But there's some principle we, particularly, as educators should follow. Professional Ethics is something that may look not easy to put into practice but is critical for educators, learners, and society.
Thanks for sharing.
